Get Involved
Volunteering
Every family who volunteers at least three times during the season (or six, if you have received a scholarship) will get their volunteer deposit back at the end of the season. Ephrata Youth Football is run entirely by volunteers, and it takes a village to make every game day successful.
This year, EYF will be using TeamSnap to post and sign up for volunteer opportunities (known in TeamSnap as "Assignments"). More information will be provided as we get closer to the start of the season.
Descriptions of volunteer opportunities are below.
Chain Gang
The chain gang is one of the most important jobs on game day. We cannot begin the game without our three chain gang volunteers. You will report to the visitors' sideline before your assigned game so you are ready to start when the refs are ready. The refs will direct you when to move the markers. This opportunity is a favorite for a lot of people because you get a front seat to the game!
Snack Bar
At our home games, we need 3-4 volunteers for the snack bar for each game and before the first game. As a volunteer in the snack bar, you will be responsible for taking orders and payment and serving food, drinks and snacks. The War Memorial Association will provide volunteers to cook the food and answer any questions you may have.
Clean Up
EASD is generous enough to allow us to use War Memorial Field and we need to take care of it. At the end of each game day, we need volunteers to check the stands and sidelines for trash, empty trash cans, check the bathrooms for trash and clean up the yard markers. Trash cans can be checked and emptied during halftime of the last game, and everything else should be started at the completion of the game.
Gate Table
Occasionally, we will need volunteers to help at the table inside the gates of the stadium. This may involve selling and/or handing out spirit wear, collecting donations, selling baked goods, or other similar tasks.
Press Box
For every game at War Memorial Field, we need an announcer, clock/scoreboard operator and spotters. If you are interested in helping with any of these opportunities, please talk to Angie, George or J.J.
Parade
In September, Ephrata Youth Football often participates in the Ephrata Fair Parade. The players always enjoy being able to be part of the parade, but it requires a lot of help from the parents. We'll need volunteers to prepare the float (we have a truck, trailer and float frame, it just needs some decoration each year), collect and sort candy to hand out during the parade and to walk with the players during the parade. More information will be available at the end of August.
